What makes us human? What is it that makes us different? That makes us, us?
This question is one that I have wondered about for years. And in truth, there’s no one answer. But in my explorations, I have found that many profound insights lie within two fields – psychology and linguistics.
From the way that we parse and understand sentences, to the hidden biases that shape how we perceive the world – these fields examine what we take for granted and try to untangle the true, hidden processes. They provide a pathway into at least part of what it means to be human.
And so, I made this blog so you can join me as I learn more about these subjects, and share the coolest and most fascinating stuff I find along the way.
I examine topics from psychology and linguistics, such as phonology, syntax, language acquisition and cognitive and behavioural psychology, alongside broader topics like historical linguistics and sociology.
